Hi Kristina,

I tried watching Animal Planet on Brightcove and I had some similar problems. Having a bad connection, there is no way to watch anything! I was pretty annoyed when one of the videos took 20 minutes to load and then didn't work... I tried again in the early morning and the connection was better. Since the content is good on these channels, I spent some time watching several short videos.

Just wanted to add to my post that I guess I actually have embedded some audio QuickTime (http://depts.washington.edu/ccce/events/Upcoming.htm - scroll down a little ways). Audio isn't as difficult I guess to embed.

Hi Mgm5,

Indeed, how did we get so smart...? Well it is our people who are smart; the first bloggers at IBM just did it and never turned back or asked if it was OK to do so... Some companies are listening, in fact more and more of them understand that liberating the info which is with their employees could be a benefit to the organisation. Amazing times but still a lot of work ahead.

Hi, Kristina -- this is a good start. You might want to make the sentences a little bit shorter, on average. I'm assuming those quotes are the actual person talking?

I am in total agreement with you on thinking that IBM was very farsighted in allowing the blogging trend to blossom. I was interested in Borremans thoughts on the idea that IBM could only react to what its employees were already doing. Mandating the blogging or any other social media would never work. How did they get so smart? And more importantly, are any other companies listening?

I heard someone from IBM talk last quarter and talk about evangelism! This person could not say enough about how great a company IBM was and how it continued to improve. Made me want to sign right up. Amazing loyalty.

These are both very interesting and especially since they seem to contradict each other so frequently. Belo found the advertising tended to cause a drop in online credibility while Finberg found that it made little or no difference. Belo also found that timliness was important to online news while Finberg found that accuracy and comprehensive storytelling were more important. I don't know what these differences mean but they are amazingly striking. Excellent choice of articles.

I really thought the BELO survey was fascinating. . . particularly the 65+ population's trust of the Internet as fairly high - I recognize this was a self-selecting response survey, but still I wouldn't have expected some of the responses for this age group, in particular, to be skewed toward what I'd more expect of a younger demographic.

Good resource!

I recently read an article about how it took the Russians launching Sputnik for the US to begin the push to explore outer space. It was incredibly expensive but it pushed the US way out in front in technology. The article was actually about the appalling lack of child health care in the US and how far we have fallen in the industrialized world with regard to child health care. As one often hears, if we can put a man on the moon, we should be able to provide health care to all citizens and we should be able to be on par with the rest of G7 countries in networking. Didn't mean to rant but sometimes our government seems so stupid to me and this article topped off several along similar lines. :)
